In roleplay, especially in emotionally charged scenes, respecting boundaries is crucial. Before you dive into intense subjects such as trauma, relationship conflicts, or personal history, always check in with your partner in the DMs. Never assume someone is comfortable with a specific topic without first getting their consent, except, if you've already discuss it beforehand. This includes themes like mental health, violence, or romantic/physical contact.
If you’re exploring a heavier subject, be sure to ask if your partner is okay with the topic beforehand. Use trigger warnings (TWs) if necessary and allow space for writers to step back or adjust the intensity if they feel uncomfortable. The more balanced your character is, the more interesting they become.
